The morning at Wetherspoon's The Cotton Bale was taken up by theatre lovers browsing through memorabilia of the
Theatre Royal which include programmes and photos of musicals and live theatre plays.
A handbuilt model of the Theatre Royal Onward made by Alan Tolfrey of Mossley Model Maker.com was kindly presented
to us by the builder himself and we thank his generosity in donating it to us.
Muriel updated us on the 2011 Onward short story/poetry competition. The last date for inclusion was in February
and the entries from all over the world are presently being read and marked. Copies of last years TRO Anthology were
purchased and are still available online at £4.99 plus postage. Details of the 2012 Onward short story competition
will be available shortly.
The Childrens Writing Competition 2011 was a great success with three of the winners reciting their stories live.
At the same time they were recorded for later transmission on Tameside Radio's Sunday afternoon The Matinee, the live
show reporting on all things theatre particularly the rich vein running through Tameside. We were particularly pleased
that the stars of the radio show James Dean and Madame Aries took time out from their hectic schedule to attend and mix
with us all.
The 2011 TRO Raffle took place at 2.30 pm and the winners list follows.
Many thanks to all those associated with planning and running and attending this most successful ever TRO Raffle 2011.
And our best wishes are with Pat Jackson Secretary of the Group on a speedy recovery from her recent fall.
